I didn't hear no bell

The Jermaine Taylor vs. Ronald "Winky" Wright fight was much better than anticipated. What was thought to be a strategic fight in which each fighter would use their jab to create opportunities turned into an all out war where power punches set up more power punches. The fight was dead even toward the later rounds and I had Taylor ahead by one round going into the 12th and final round. This where champions are made and apparently Wright never watched De La Hoya vs. Trinidad and Wright decided to run around the ring like he had the fight in the bag. This is partially do to his cornermen celebrating before the end of the fight and telling Wright that he was ahead on points. Taylor won the round and I had him winning 7 rounds out of the 12. Three judges had it scored very close as well with the fight ending in a draw. I have no idea how the Associated Press had it 116 - 112 for Wright.

Some things to note:
At the end of the fight Taylor's left eye was almost completely closed and both of Wright's eyes had severe swelling. I think Taylor's eye closing was more a result of the frequent head butts.

The referee warned Taylor about pushing Wright down while clinching. It happened two times and the referee made it seem like it was frequent.

Jim Lampley calls a great fight.

I watched the whole fight as well, and thought Wright won the fight 7 rounds to 5 (including the last round). What the hell did Taylor do in the 12th?

On a side note, I thought Lennox Lewis was sub-par in the booth.. Perhaps they can make a deal to have Tyson serve as an HBO analyst next...

From ESPN:
Neither fighter did much of anything in the final round and Wright's decision to dance around the ring over the final 30 seconds prompted two of the three judges to give Taylor the round. Taylor threw only 37 punches in the final round and Wright got off only 32, the lowest total in the fight for each boxer.

I agree with the draw. I had Winky up 6-5 going into the 12. He definitely got bad advice from his corner. Plus, what was with the guy trying to talk into Winky's ear? We could still hear him on camera.
